Characters with Personality: Part 1 of 3... possibly more in the near future...

This is a character model that I loosely based off of Brett Anderson, the lead vocalist for The Donnas, and all-female rock band. The Donnas all seem to have interesting personalities and they are one of my favourite bands, so I figured I would try sketching them for practice.

Characters with Personality

Since picking up the book "creating characters with personality", I've been practicing drawing some character models that can help give someone a sense of their personality just by looking at a drawing. It makes for a much more interesting and appealing character model and it may also help when it comes time to actually animate the character. These three character models took about 8 hours in total.

Guitar Hero: Megadeth

Seeing as how Metallica got their own guitar hero game, I figured that Megadeth are more than deserving of their own as well. I was also watching a video on the band "Skillet"s youtube channel and a fan built a guitar hero case for them, so I decided to go and build one for Megadeth.
Total build time: roughly 6 hours.

Alter Bridge "Blackbird" logo: Final Product

So this is the final product. The top image is the actual album cover and the bottom image is my finished version. Built using Illustrator for the trace of the bird, the type and the masking of the texture on the letters and Photoshop to render the background. There are still a few finicky details left to render like the texture on the bird.

Alter Bridge "Blackbird" logo cont.

So I've made some progress on the Alter Bridge "Blackbird" logo. This time around I've traced out the type on the album cover. Tracing out the "A" and the "E" turned out to be quite interesting seeing as how those two letters had a really rough line quality to them, so I tried to get in as much detail as I could with those two letters. Next step is to build and match the album background.

This is a character model of Walls of Jericho vocalist Candice Kucsulain. The bottom image is my reference image and the top one is my interpretation. I guess I can attempt the crazy amount of tattoos she has later....

Another character model from a previous drawing I posted earlier. Since I got almost 3 weeks off now, I'll be doing a lot more of these sketches and then blogging them.

Android Client: Final Presentation poster

So here's how I laid out all the major assets that I've built for Android. I decided to format it as a poster with all my assets as the content such as the launcher apps, the menu icons and options, the widget designs and the tasks and activities wireframes.

Teen emo character drawing: Outline

This is the same drawing I posted earlier, this time I vectorized the image in Illustrator. The next step is to bring it into Photoshop to colour it.
