Typography Cube
This assignment was given in my New Media Design class. We looked at the 6 major type faces: Sans Serif, Serif, Decorative, Woodcut, Slab Serif and Script. We then needed to choose a font from each of the 6 type faces and give it a section on the cube. We then had to type our intials in a coloured box in the designated typeface. This cube was made using Adobe Illustrator CS5 and Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Skate deck ideas
.
.
So here are some skate decks by "Birdhouse" that I've been looking at for inspiration for my own skate deck design. I think the idea of having this skeletal bird, drawn bad ass, is an awesome idea. It seems to be a recurring theme for most birdhouse decks. Since the theme of the skate deck is "Predator", I think a design like that will fit perfectly for the assigned theme. i also took a look at some skate decks by "Blind"and "Zero". they some really bad ass designs as well. I like the diamond plate texture on the "blind" skate deck, so that may be something I incorporate into my design.

Mural
The assignment was to design and build a mural that would represent the 91 countries represented at Seneca College. The groups would be presenting their final ideas to an actual client and they would pick the winner. Presenting an idea to an actual client was a pretty awesome experience, it's something that I will definately have to do in my future career as a Digital Media Artist, so it was awesome to get some experience under my belt. Our design was to make a 3D model of the map of the world using foamcore (as a prototype). We also took photogrpahs from online databases that represented all 91 countries, whether it was an animal, a fruit, a tree or a parliment building. We then arranged them in a collage of polaroid-esque pictures to give the feel of a trip around the world. Lastly, our groups tagline was "Seneca connects you". We represented this tagline by using red string to connect all the represented countries to Seneca College. Although we felt our idea was innovative, we ended up not winning, which was alright with myself and the group. All the designs I saw from this project were ass-kicking, so it was pretty cool to see what other groups had done for this project.
I was bored....
So I ended up tracing the Oklahoma City Thunder logo. This logo is fairly easy to trace, I knocked it off in under 3 hours. They're one of my favourite NBA teams, so what the hell.
Character Design: Final Piece
So here's more or less of the finished product. There may still be one or two things I may have to tweak, most likely the shading, but other than that, this is basically the final product. Enjoy.

Logo Trace #2: San Jose Sharks
Since I had so much fun tracing the Cavaliers logo, I decided to trace a second logo. This time I chose the San Jose Sharks. Again, not an incredibly hard logo to trace, but it can still turn out pretty bad ass anyway.
Happy Canada Day everyone!
