The Offspring's Conspiracy of One logo: In 3D (Illustrator)

This was another fun little personal project. It was originally inspired by the bottom image. I thought the texture mapping on the logo was pretty cool, so it kind of inspired me to re-create the logo in 3D for some odd reason. Not having access to 3D studio MAX here at my house/make-shift studio, I decided that Adobe Illustrator would have to suffice. After being exposed to the 3D studio MAX platform in my Intro to 3D course at Seneca College, I realized how bad Illustrator is for building 3D objects (granted, it is not actually a 3D platform). Overall, I'm happy with the outcome; I'd still like to bring this into 3D Studio MAX and mess around with the materials editor to see what kind of texture mapping I can get for the logo.

The typeface I used for my design is called "Gunship". I forget where I found this typeface, all I know is that I stumbled upon it while searching for the "Top Gun" typeface.

Adobe Illustrator Tutorial: Icon Design

So I have found yet another interesting Illustrator tutorial courtesy of Adobe Illustrator's page on Facebook. This tutorial shows you how to build a colourful icon/ logo-type design. I'm pleased with the turnout of the tutorial, it kind of reminds me of an awesome looking piece of candy. The link to the tutorial is posted below.

Adobe Illustrator tutorial: Twirl tool

So I've found yet another interesting Illustrator tutorial via Adobe Illustrator's facebook page. This one involves using the "twirl tool", which I didn't know existed until finding the tutorial. As you can see, you can manipulate just ordinary shapes into something really abstract, these shapes almost remind me of smoke rising into the air. Awesome tutorial.

So here's the final animation for the Cleveland Cavaliers logo.

Experimenting with colour

Since I haven't coloured in anything by hand in quite some time, I decided to try and get back into it with some of my art. I recently picked up some artist markers (still need to get some more) and thought I'd try them out and see what the results ended up looking like. This character model was a Cassadee Pope/Danielle Harris inspired character. The colours I think turned out alright, although I will still bring this into Illustrator to colour it and see what results I get from that.

Adobe Illustrator Tutorial: "Top Gun" badge: Final Product

So after finishing the "Top Gun" badge in Illustrator, I brought it into Photoshop to add some extraneous features to the badge like a drop shadow and a gradient overlay (because gradients are AWESOME!!) so the badge would stand out more from the background. I also added a subtle gradient to the background.

Adobe Illustrator tutorial: "Top Gun" badge

So I found another cool tutorial on Adobe Illustrator via their facebook page. The tutorial was on how to create the "Top Gun" badge. I'm quite pleased with the turnout, the tutorial was very effective. I'm especially pleased with the metallic texture on the typefaces.

Cleveland Cavaliers 3D logo

This is my 3d logo trace assignment for dma344. I chose the Cleveland Cavaliers. I'm quite pleased with the turn out, overall. There are a few rough points in the logo that I can fix with practice.

The result of an interesting Adobe Illustrator tutorial
