Rule of Thirds

This assignment is for Digital Photography (SCA266) in the Graphic Design program. Any artist out there should be familiar with the Rule of Thirds. It plays a key part in creating an appealing composition whether it's a photograph or an Illustration.

I'm actually kind of excited to be taking a photography course again. It's giving me another opportunity to expand my creativity as well as my own photo library for any future projects.

The subject is a scale model Ferrari F1 car (Can't remember if it's 1:12 or 1:16) that I've owned for almost 10 years now. It's finally being used for something besides sitting on my book shelf looking cool.

Candice Kucsulain drawing

This is a character model of Walls of Jericho vocalist Candice Kucsulain. The bottom image is my reference image and the top one is my interpretation. I guess I can attempt the crazy amount of tattoos she has later....

Even more character models

Another character model from a previous drawing I posted earlier. Since I got almost 3 weeks off now, I'll be doing a lot more of these sketches and then blogging them.

More personal cartoon work...

I recently picked up a book titled "Creating Characters With Personality" by Tom Bancroft. It's essentially for anyone who is interested in Animation and are looking to give their drawings a bit of an extra "kick". They offer tips on design elements like costumes/clothing, stance/posing, shapes, personalities etc. They have assignments after each chapter that test what you've learned from that chapter, and I must say, they look quite fun. I've already read through this book three times since buying it on Wednesday, and I'll definitely be looking through it and trying some of the assignments over the holidays (which will be hard because I'll be getting Call of Duty: Black Ops for Christmas :P) so I'll see what I can accomplish. This drawing is just a start for me, there's tons of things I'd like to do with this character drawing.
